Meet the 2019 Presenters

Holly Blanc Moses

Holly  is a Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 20 years' experience in ADHD, Autism and anxiety. She is a published author and a frequent presenter on topics including challenging behavior, social skills, and parenting stress. Holly is the owner of Crossvine Clinical Group in Raleigh and is the Founder of Wired Differently, Behavior Strategies that Work online trainings. Most importantly, she is the mother of two differently wired boys.

Tracy Vail

Tracy is the owner of Let's Talk Speech and Language, Services, Inc.  She is a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist, a Certified Crisis Prevention Intervention instructor and a Safety Care instructor. She has been working with children with Autism since 1982 in a wide variety of settings and provides training and consultation to schools and families around the world in all aspects of communication, social skills and problem behavior.

Geraldine Pesacreta

Geraldine is a Middle School Language Arts teacher and Executive Function Coordinator for Student Programs at Hill Learning Center in Durham.  She has forty years of experience as a teacher and administrator for students with learning differences, specializing in curriculum development. 
 

Stacey Gahagan

Stacey Gahagan is the owner of The Gahagan Law Firm, PLLC -- an education law firm dedicated to representing children with disabilities and their families throughout North Carolina and committed to ensuring all students receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).

Holly Yates

Holly Yates has been in private practice in North Carolina since 2004. Her specialty areas are working with adults both individually and in groups as well as couples addressing depression, anxiety, mood disorders and life stressors through clinical intervention and skills training. Holly’s practice centers on third wave therapies most specifically Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is a founding facilitator of the online ACT Peer Intervision Network sponsored through ACBS and a Certified FAP Trainer through University of Washington.

Ryan Platt

Ryan is the founder of A Special Needs Plan. He completed his Special Care Planner Certification in 2005 at the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA, in which he received advanced training in estate and tax planning, special needs trusts, government programs, and the emotional dynamics of working with people and families with special needs loved ones. In 2013, he went on to complete the Chartered Special Needs Consultant designation. 

Margaret Gaffney

Margaret is the parent of an adult with an intellectual disability. She is known in the special needs community as a trusted resource helping families transition their child to adulthood. Margaret walks families through completing communication pieces, preparing for guardianship, as well as applying for SSI and Medicaid benefits.

Meet the Advocates

Kristin Cook

Kristin is the owner of Spectrum Navigation Services. She ventured into advocacy work after advocating for her own autistic son for several years. Kristin's passions are teaching parents how to effectively advocate for their children and connecting special needs parents with local resources.

Alexandria Bergman

Alexandria is a holistic parenting coach and a certified teacher with a Masters in education.  She uses her knowledge and personal experience to help families effectively navigate the school system and the community. Alex is also a mother of two differently wired boys.

Dr. Shannon Bellezza

Dr. Bellezza is the owner of Triangle Behavioral and Educational Solutions, LLC, which provides educational advocacy services and specialized instruction to individuals and groups focusing on improving academic skills and learning strategies.  Her areas of expertise include curriculum & instruction for students with disabilities as well as the IEP and 504 processes and best practices.  Dr. Bellezza holds NC teacher's licensure in special education and completed her M.Ed. and Ph.D at North Carolina State University.
